Designed to provide the necessary knowledge for safely navigating glaciers in accumulation-ablation zones.
This course is intended for participants who already have mountaineering experience and need to acquire or improve their safety techniques. The course also covers glacier and snow-covered terrain with boots, crampons, and snowshoes. Safety techniques and crevasse rescue are also included, all of which are necessary and fundamental for mountaineering on icy terrain.
The workshops are held in the high mountains of Mendoza, just a few kilometers from Aconcagua Park, the Protected Area that includes the highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere. We offer two days of hands-on experience where we'll teach you everything you need to safely navigate mountain adventure terrain..

Meeting Location: Puente del Inca, Mendoza.

Difficulty: Moderate / High.

Duration: 16 hours spread over two days.

Modality: Theoretical / Practical.

Requirements: Medical certificate with stress ergometry (implies: Good health | Good physical condition to perform prolonged field practices) | Complete Medical Form | Sign Assumption of Risk | Mandatory required equipment.

Includes: Theory booklet, Professional Mountain Guide (EPGAMT), Insurance, First aid kit - VHF (emergencies), Personalized advice.

  • Leveling:
    Use of the traverse ice axe. Self-arrest. 10- and 12-point progression techniques: Frontal progression, Diagonal, Cross-Diagonal, Changes of direction.
  • Knots.
  • Anchors and alternative systems to use.
  • Pulley systems.
  • Types of glaciers and their zones.
  • Considerations during glacier transit. Roping.
  • Crevice rescue for a two- or three-person team (victim conscious).
  • Fixed rope ascent for self-rescue.
  • General planning – preparation – attitude and resolution.
